We spent Easter Sunday at Bryan's mother's house in Oceanside. She was genreous (and crazy) enough to include my entire family in the day so it was a lot of fun and very busy. The kids (Chelsea, Katie, Ian and Nicole) participated in an egg hunt and played with sidewalk chalk out in the backyard. Fortuantely it was a beautiful day so we all got to enjoy the garden for a while. Lots of good food and even better company.
Samantha was adorable in her Easter dress and bonnet. She was very popular but got a little overwhelmed by all the attention and had to go into the bedroom for some quiet time every now and then. She'll have to get used to the noise soon if she's going to be part of this family though. We'll ease her in...
Baby Updates
Samantha has done a lot of growing since my last post. She is 13 weeks 2 days today and was 11 lbs 14 oz. at the doctor's office last week. She's wearing 3-6 month clothes and can even fit into some of her 6 month clothes as well. She's really long. Most of her pants are too short, a problem she inherited from me, poor thing.
Her head is pretty steady now and she is dying to sit on her own. She loves her Bumbo chair because it lets her sit up straight, but she can only stay in it for a few minutes before she gets tired. Bryan is relieved that she's a little more sturdy these days. He thought she was too breakable before and was nervous about handling her.
She's also a lot more smiley and vocal these days. I still haven't heard a full giggle but we're waiting with bated breath. She does squeal when happy and has started screeching really loud to get our attention. This is slowly replacing the grunting. Its cute for now but may get old really quickly. She can't wait to talk. She already babbles and copies our tone. I swear she said "hi" the other day. And when she cries it sounds like she's calling me, "mama".
She recently discovered her hands and feet. One of her hands will cross her field of vision and she'll hold it out and stare at it like its the most interesting thing she's ever seen. She has also started grabbing her toes when she's lying on a blanket on the floor. And when she pulls her legs up she will roll to the side which I'm assuming is the first step to rolling completely over.
She is now sleeping in her crib every night and has started taking naps in there on occasion. This week we're working on getting her to fall asleep on her own. She used to have to pass out on my shoulder before we could lie her down but with a new pacifier and a musical fish tank in her crib we're slowly but surely getting her down awake. She is a little relieved I think. She hated her swaddle and would start struggling to get out as soon as she was wrapped up. I have to say, I'm glad. I hated that swaddle too! Now if we could just get her to sleep longer than 30-45 minutes during the day. Nighttimes are better but sometimes I'll only get 4 hours before she wakes up. Exhausting.
Here are some of the latest pics. She's getting to be so much fun! I've got a bunch of video but I still need to figure out how to put it on the computer. Maybe that will be my next project...
